TEHRAN – Iranian documentarian Mehdi Bemani’s “Hazrat Amirjan” that chronicles the life and works of Persian mystic and poet Mir Seyyed Ali Hamadani was unveiled Tuesday at a meeting in Tehran.

Tehran-based ECO Cultural Institute Director Eftekhar Hossein Aref, Tajik Ambassador Nematullo Emomzoda, Iranian Young Cinema Society Managing Director Farid Farkhondekish, and a number cultural officials and literati attended the meeting.

“Mir Seyyed Ali Hamadani, who was born in Iran, is among the luminaries of all time as he traveled extensively to promote Islamic thought throughout the region,” Hossein Aref said.

Emomzoda used the context of the motion picture industry for widening public cultural awareness as he expressed his satisfaction over making such movies on other Islamic dignitaries.

IRIB Documentary Channel is scheduled to air “Hazrat Amirjan” on Friday at 2 pm.

Mir Seyyed Ali bin Shahab-ud-Din Hamadani (1314-1385) was born in Hamedan and died in Tajikistan. He was buried in the southern Tajik city of Kulob.

He was very influential in spreading Islam in Kashmir and had a major hand in shaping the culture of the Kashmir valley.

Previously in October 2014, the Iran-Tajikistan Friendship Society, Iran’s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, and the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO organized a conference to commemorate the 700th birth anniversary of Mir Seyyed Ali Hamadani.

In addition, the western Iranian city of Hamedan also hosted an international conference on Hamadani last November, and the capital city of Tajikistan Dushanbe hosted a seminar on Hamadani in September.
